Parasyn recently completed the Control System upgrade for East Gippsland Water’s Mallacoota and Orbost Water Treatment Plants. The existing control systems consisted of obsolete Allen Bradley PLC’s that were no longer supported. The system topology included disparate control equipment and cabinets. As a result of improved operational requirements, the plants were upgraded including electrical switchboards and control systems, additional functionality to enhance operational control and the addition of information from remote sites that feed into the treatment plants.
By upgrading to a modern PLC and incorporating process control improvements, the EGW plants have now become more fully automated and require less intervention by Operators who fine tune plant operation.
The major benefits to EGW include;
- Modern and supported control system hardware
- Fully documented and identified plant and instrumentation
- Standardisation across multiple plants
- Process control improvements which result in reduced operator effort
