The Lower Murray Water (LMW) enterprise SCADA footprint consists of instances of CitectSCADA and ClearSCADA distributed over a number of sites. These SCADA systems can be accessed over the corporate network, however, as the need to access these systems by the broader business increases, greater consistency and compatibility is required. LMW is moving towards a unified ClearSCADA platform and telemetry network that adheres to LMW Electrical Standards which includes SCADA.
Parasyn has been selected to implement the next phase of this industrial automation unification project by renewing end of life equipment and capitalising on new functionality that current technology can provide. The business aims to improve planning, operations and maintenance effectiveness.
The project extends SCADA to unmonitored sites and includes enhancing the control functionality at pumping stations. Of a critical nature, the 2G Telstra service utilised by LMW are also being decommissioned by Telstra and newer technology is going to be transitioned to connect these sites to SCADA via 3/4G network. Because of this, transitioning to the new infrastructure has become urgent to ensure the system remains operational.
