Design, construct and deploy a control system in 3 weeks?

Early June 2014, Parasyn was contacted by McIlwain to scope and deliver the control system for managing a Brisbane River Waterway gate.
In the event of a flood risk from the Brisbane River, the gate can be operated to block the flood risk passing from Brisbane River into the Western Creek at Milton and flooding nearby areas. This had caused significant damage to properties and infrastructure during previous flood events, and so significant that it is worthy of its own website at http://www.oncewasacreek.org/the-creek/transformation/floods
The control system provides creek and river levels to control room personnel so they can remotely operate the gate as required, safely and without incident.  All controls from the PLC controller to the Actuator were “soft” meaning the devices spoke to each other – a high level interface.

This fast track project required resource scheduling, functional design, electrical design, procurement, construction, software development, testing and commissioning. The ambition was 3 weeks! Parasyn delivered on their portion of the mission and the team did extremely well to rearrange their affairs and other activities to meet the important timing requirement.

“Although it has hardly rained and there has been no hint of a deluge, all thanks go to the A team who delivered as promised.”
