Located at Sydney’s well known Luna Park, this year’s Australian Utility Week featured a strong representation of Smart Grid new technology providers. The conference held from 24th to the 25th November featured subject matter expert presentations including Chi Ton-Nu Substation Integration Specialist from Subnet Solutions who spoke about Intelligent Grid solutions.
A specialist power industry software solution’s provider, Subnet (and Parasyn) offer a NERC CIP compliant product suite including protocol translation software solutions, HMI and secure enterprise applications for management of substation assets.
Subnet Solutions product suite makes light work of centralising the management of Substation IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices) or commonly called “protection relays”. This unique software solution is hardware vendor independent making the solution one of a kind worldwide.
Chi Ton-Nu was accompanied by Natasha Sajan (Senior Account Manager EMEA) and Peter Lorimer (Driver Development Team Lead) of Subnet, and Parasyn CEO Tony Poole. It wasn’t all fun and games at Luna Park, however, discussing next generation technologies and how it is being applied around the world was exciting and encouraging, reported Tony Poole. Although the conference was primarily attended by water and energy utilities, it is important to note that intelligent management of power management devices in substations is also a key requirement for rail infrastructure organisations, who are generally not part of the utility conference.
